Gator gets new olive livery
Description:
John Deere has introduced a new version of its popular XUV 850D high performance 4x4 utility vehicle, in olive and black livery. This model is aimed at customers who prefer a more camouflaged alternative to the usual bright green and yellow colour scheme, including shooting and countryside estates and farms, outdoor adventure centres and wildlife parks.
The new olive and black Gator is being launched at this year’s CLA Game Fair by BBC Countryfile presenter Matt Baker, who will be on the John Deere stand (N1083) on Saturday July 24 from 12 noon to 2pm. Matt Baker has experience of driving the award-winning XUV Gator on his family’s hill farm in the Durham Dales.
The olive and black Gator is fitted as standard with aggressive tread, off-road style tyres, but otherwise is the same specification as the existing XUV model, complete with a steel tipping cargo box. It is available with all the same attachments and options, including road homologation, and the standard four post ROPS frame can also be upgraded to a deluxe full glass cab if required.

The price is not confirmed but expected to be approx £7’700 RRP.
Unique Alpine:
The eagerly awaited TPG-3 with folding stock. This gun is revolutionary as it folds to the bolt side, with the bolt slotting into the stock making it the most compact folding gun on the market by quite some margin. This gun is still in the final stage of development as we speak and, so all the more reason to visit the stand to see the first working model.
York Guns are a first time exhibitor but have been in the business for 30 years.

2. Utopia Game Cover:
After several years of trialling throughout the UK we are launching Utopia into the market this year. Bright Seeds are sponsoring the Keepers Breakfast held on Friday 23rd July at the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust’s stand at this year’s Game Fair. Again, a raffle of 3 x 5kgs Utopia seed (equivalent to £300.00).
Utopia is the fastest establishing brassica game cover crop that you can buy. It is a black mustard crossed with a wild Ethiopian kale. It grows at the speed of mustard but looks like a kale. Results show it gets away ahead of flea beetle attack, perfect for establishing from late June to August to give you excellent cover throughout the shooting season. Lady Clare Pigott, the original founder of the company, created one of the first place mats in Paris in 1932. She had collected antique prints from dealers in Berlin where her husband was attached to the British Embassy. Having to entertain diplomats during their next posting to the Embassy in Paris, Lady Clare became concerned at the laundry bills she was incurring for the starched white table cloths formality required her to use for dinners.
As a result she created some place mats from shaped and painted hardboard with a flower print applied to the surface and several coats of lacquer. For her next dinner party she was able to remove the table cloth and lay the table using her placemats. Her friends were most impressed by this simple and attractive way of decorating a dining table. Inevitably the next question was ... can you please make some for me?
From these simple origins a business was born. Our range now includes placemats for formal and casual dining as well as accessories such as waste bins and trays. With over 70 years experience, Lady Clare is synonymous with design, quality and service.

Launching for the first time at The CLA Game Fair: newly formed Lancashire based gunmakers Longthorne (Gunmakers) Ltd have produced a Wholly English 12 bore Sidelock, over and under shotgun with auto safe and single selective trigger. On this particular model the barrels are 30” and of a ‘novel’ construction, that is to say that the barrels involve an innovative method of manufacture which utilises neither chopper lumps nor mono-blocks, they are unified and calculated to shoot at a given point of impact at a distance of 40 yards.
The company has been conscious of the fact that there is somewhat of an imbalance between the number of imported shotguns and the number currently produced in the UK and is keen to redress this as Britain was once considered the traditional centre of the gun making industry, and as such produces the gun entirely in house from only the best quality materials. The film is the result of the overwhelming feedback and demand for this type of practical information as a result of the cooking demonstrations on my stands at game fairs (Pakefield Ferrets and Pugs & Drummers), through the recipe section on my website (www.pakefieldferrets.co.uk) and in particular the YouTube videos on said site. The Pakefield Produce website is currently in a transitional period but I am confident that it will be finished by mid June 2010.
I am a traditional warrener working in North Suffolk, author of three ferreting books and countless working DVD's as well as a regular contributor to the Shooting Times and The Countryman's Weekly magazines. Due to the nature of my job, there is a demand for cleanly harvested rabbits so Steve Taylor and I decided to sell direct to the restaurants etc. We gained registration with our local environmental health department; this was achieved through the hunter's exemption legislation. Both Steve Taylor and I provide and prepare the rabbits and the cooking side is carried out by Steve's wife, Marie. Marie is not only booked to demonstrate at several Game to Eat sponsored events for Living Heritage but also at this year’s CLA Game Fair's cookery theatre at Ragley Hall. These cooking demonstrations are introduced by me and I briefly talk about the provenance of our rabbits and then Marie prepares and cooks various rabbit recipes. With rabbit now back in vogue, these demonstrations have proved extremely popular as by combining the two elements of preparing and cooking rabbit, we illustrate the true worth of this nutritional meat of which has kept our nation fed throughout world wars, strikes and recession.
This DVD has been filmed, produced and edited by ourselves. What I would like to achieve with this film is to spread the word about this natural meat that has lived freely and harvested traditionally. By showing how to prepare and cook rabbit we aim to redress those skills that we should know; the ones so often passed down through the generations but sadly haven't. We hope that by showing three everyday people preparing and cooking rabbit will inspire the viewer to have the confidence to start eating rabbit again.

1. William Powell hasn’t exhibited at a Game Fair for over 25 years and are absolutely delighted to be back showing on Gunmakers Row. This Fair is the first being held right in the heart of “William Powell Country”. Having started commercial trading in Birmingham (which is less than 30 miles from Ragley Hall) over 200 years ago, Worcestershire and Warwickshire are very much in their home territory.
Visitors will not only be able to see the guns William Powell have become famous for but also have the opportunity to buy products from their new ranges; from William Powell’s clothing (and other fine makes of course) to shooting accessories and much, much more besides.
2. William Powell have developed six models of their Continental shotguns; four Side by Side and two Over & Under models. Favourable reviews of the Pegasus, Linhope, Eclipse and Phoenix have been published in the Shooting Times and The Field magazines and customers will be able to see these guns for themselves at The Game Fair.
Up to forty examples of these guns, in every conceivable calibre (from 12 bore right the way through to .410), will be available to view. It will be the biggest example of own-branded guns shown by any English gunmaker at The Game Fair – something for everybody and every pocket.
3. William Powell owns a wonderful and very unique gun; a Hammer .410 - which was built for a Maharaja’s son about 130 years ago. This is a scaled down gun, ideal for a young person to start shooting with.
We decided that this was such a good idea, that we should make a .410 Sidelock Side by Side (Hammer-less!) shotgun, which would similarly be ideal for a young person; whether they be a boy or a girl, taking up shooting. This gun is fully cased and will retail for under £4,000.
3. When Mark and Christine Osborne bought William Powell two years ago they realised that there were parts of the UK clothing market which were not particularly well served and set about designing and having expressly made a range of clothing for both men and women. This range of clothing epitomises William Powell’s ethos; wonderful quality and yet at very sensible prices.
William Powell are delighted to be showing off the style and flair of their range of clothing at this year’s Game Fair; particularly including the new ladies Summer jackets. Again a full range of our clothing will be on display on our stand in Gunmakers row.
