The Main Arena provides a varied and exciting day-long programme of displays.
Arden Polocrosse
Polocrosse is a combination of polo and lacrosse, with only one horse used in games. Each player uses a stick, to which is attached a racquet head with a loose thread net, in which the ball is carried. The objective is to score goals by throwing the ball between your opponents goal posts. This is a fast exciting sport to watch, with plenty of goals being scored and is accessible to all.
British Driving Society Musical Drive
The British Driving Society is the leading authority on horse driving and will provide a daily display set to music.
Chris Green Countryman
Chris, with the help of his dog, will present in his own unique and hilarious style, the skills of wildfowling. Chris teaches all the necessary skills in this informative and entertaining display, but beware there will be one or two loud bangs!
Chris Green has made a number of films on wildlife and hunting and is one of the country's leading authorities on filming country sports. He will be releasing the second of his Wildfowling films at The Game Fair.
Falconry Flying Display
A traditional flying display with an entertaining and educational commentary featuring hawks, eagles and falcons stooping and chasing the lure.
Falconry Pageant
This new element will take place each afternoon, based on the 15th century Book of St Albans, focusing on the history of falconry and its importance over the centuries to British culture. The display will incorporate members from falconry and hawking clubs from across the country all in costumes from the relevant ages. Gundogs will also make an appearance in this parade.
Gundog training demonstration
Adrian Slater will show the basics of training dogs from puppies to advanced work.
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People & Dogs for the Disabled
These registered charities, who both train dogs to help children and adults with disabilities to live more independently, will each provide a daily demonstration of their work in the Main Arena and give visitors the opportunity to meet the puppies and working hearing dogs. They are the nominated charities for The Game Fair this year.
Hywel Morgan Flycasting
Hywel is one of the top fly casting demonstrators in the world and brings character and fun to the Main Arena.
Jive Pony
This exciting team describe themselves as the UK’s premier female equestrian team, and offer an eye-catching display featuring precision riding skills, breathtaking high speed stunts, a special blend of dance and many graceful and athletic acrobatic feats on horseback.
Katie Cropper Sheepdog display
Often described as the UK’s most famous shepherdess and presents an intriguing mix of puppies, a pony, geese, ducks and sheep in her display.
Parade of Hounds
Huntsmen from the many packs of hounds in region will be bringing their hounds to the Main Arena twice daily.
Shire Horses and Drays
There will be two teams run by Mike Millington for Gales (now owned by Fullers) and John Medhurst for Fullers. These marvellous horses are always immaculately turned out and a pleasure to watch. They will also be performing a Musical Drive.
Sovereign Quarter Horses with David Deptford
David Deptford and his wife Sarah have owned and bred American Quarter Horses for many years. They will demonstrate the flexibility and versatility of the breed at different paces and show the dexterity of movement useful for different western disciplines and for a working horse.
The CLA Long Service Awards
These awards will be presented in the Main Arena on the Friday of The Game Fair – for full details see Countryside Awards page.
The Royal Mail Coach
Probably the most famous coach in the country and is around 150 years old. This oold timer delivered the mail between London and Norwich and this display will recreate the stately grace of horse and carriage.
CHURCH SERVICE
Join exhibitors in the Main Arena on Sunday morning at 08.30 for a traditional and moving short service. Horses, dogs and everyone welcome.
Friday evening
A special programme of events, including a Cavalcade of Hounds and The World of the Horse will be held in the Main Arena on Friday evening when The Game Fair is open until 7.30pm.
