- The CLA Long Service Awards
The CLA Long Service Awards have become a respected tradition at The Game Fair. Both The CLA Long Service Awards to Gamekeepers and The CLA Long Service Awards to Riverkeepers and Ghillies are presented annually to outstanding individuals who have dedicated a lifetime to looking after large areas of the countryside or rivers at the heart of this country. The awards recognise the hard work carried out daily in all weathers by these unsung heroes over very many years.
- CLA Long Service Awards to Gamekeepers
Gamekeepers play an important role in managing the British countryside. Over the years the role has evolved with the professional managing of land for shooting being ever more closely linked with the conservation of wildlife.
Gamekeepers must have completed 40 years’ service on not more than five estates to be eligible. At 50 and 60 years, a keeper receives an additional bar to his medal.
- CLA Long Service Awards to Riverkeepers and Ghillies
Generations of Riverkeepers and ghillies have been responsible for maintaining many of the beautiful rivers and streams which traverse our countryside today. Many of them have committed a lifetime of hard work to preserve and protect the river systems we see today. The Awards give public recognition to their work in managing and conserving the rural environment.
To achieve an award, Riverkeepers and Ghillies will have dedicated at least 25 years to looking after the same river system.
The CLA Game Fair Media Awards
The award will be presented to a member of the media who is deemed to have been supportive of country sports. Nominations were selected from outside the normally recognised country sport media and involved in either newspapers, magazines, radio or TV. The panel of judges included representatives from the CLA, BASC, GWCT, CA and the Salmon and Trout Association.
The Most Innovative Product and Most Innovative Service Award
These awards will be presented by The CLA Game Fair organisers to The Game Fair exhibitor, who has in the opinion of the judges, launched the most innovative product and service in 2010.
- Farmers Weekly/CLA Game Fair Gamekeeper of the Year Award
Farmers Weekly and The CLA Game Fair have once again joined forces for the Gamekeeper of the Year competition.
