The Clay line

The enormous Clay Line is designed to appeal to all shots, offering a wide variety of events to participate in, so whether you wish to spend all day or just an hour or so shooting there are stands laid on to entertain you.

Championships and Competitions

There is something for all shots at The Game Fair and there are hundreds of prizes to be won each day.  Remember that you can only shoot with Fibre Wad Cartridges (28gram).  Hearing and eye protection is compulsory. 

When you have finished shooting and want to enjoy the rest of The Game Fair – make use of the Gun Storage Facilities

All rules and regulations will be printed on the shooting programme available from the booking office

Championships: 

Friday – The CLA Game Fair 50th Anniversary Championship
First prize £500

Saturday – The Blaser Championship
First prize Blaser F3 Shotgun

Sunday – The High Lodge Championship
First prize An Automatic Clay Trap value £1,000

To enter you must shoot the championship course before shooting any of the Daily Competitions.  Each day the  winner from AA, A, B, C, unclassified, ladies, juniors, Masters and Disabled will shoot the final in the John Bidwell Shooting Arena at 17.00

Daily Competitions:

50 Bird sporting shot over 10 stands with prizes for 1st to 4th place in AA, A, B, C, unclassified, ladies, juniors, Masters and 1st place prize for Disabled and Gamekeepers classes

50 Bird re-entry shot over 10 stands with daily cash prizes 1st – 4th place

Side by Side 50 Birds 3 day re-entry shot over 5 stands

High Lodge Young Shots 50 Birds re-entry shot over 10 stands.  Two age groups 15 and under and 16 – 18 years.  Daily prizes in each age group

John Bidwell Novice 50 Bird re-entry shot over 10 stands  - (Novice is a person who has not won a major prize in any competition including country or others).  Daily prizes.  High Gun over the 3 days wins 1 Day Instruction Clinic with John Bidwell

Duck Flush 25 Bird per gun – 1, 2 or 3 man flush. Daily cash prizes

Rabbit Mania 25 Bird per gun – 1, or 2 man. Daily cash prizesNot

Pay and Clay Stands – 8 sporting stands offering simulated game or sporting targets, each stand offers 10 birds and you can purchase a ticket for an many stands as you wish.  All stands have guns and cartridges available.  10 birds each stand. If you wish to shoot all 8 stands (80 Bird) pay for 7 and get one free.

High Lodge Try – A – Gun Stands – ever wanted to try shooting with various well known guns?  Here’s your opportunity.  Choose from a Blaser, AYA, Purdey, Browning, Winchester, Miruko, Beretta, Caeser Guerini, Perazzi Bettinsoli, Holland and Holland and Fabarm

Muzzle Loaders – The Bath Muzzle and Breech Loading Association will be giving visitors an insight into the art of shooting these treasured Antique guns.

Muzzle Loaders
The Bath Muzzle and Breech Loading Association will be giving visitors an insight into the art of shooting these treasured Antique guns. (The Association will be showing many of their Antique Guns and accessories on their stand - read more about them at the end of the Shooting pages).

Directions for Clayline
Visitors arriving with guns and ammunition etc are advised to go to the Car Park that is closest to the Clay Line which is situated at Long Hanborough. To access it approach on the A4095 from Whitney and follow the AA signs.

Gun Storage
Sponsored by Shooting Sports Magazine and Gun Mart Magazine.
Safe storage is available for your gun while you look around the Show. Opening hours are 09.00 to 17.00. Guns must be collected by 18.00 hours each day unless leaving overnight when night storage fees will apply. Guns must be collected by 18.00 hours on Sunday.

 GENERAL RULES
1/ Eye protection is compulsory and must be worn by all shooters
2/ Hearing protection must be worn and is available for purchase in the booking  office.
3/ 28gram loads, FIBREWADS ONLY. Anyone ignoring this rule will be  disqualified with no refund.
4/ All guns must be enclosed in a slip, or broken, when not in use.
5/ Shooters must be ready to shoot when their name is called to the stand or their  “go” will be forfeited.
6/ Referees’ decisions are final and binding
7/ All simultaneous pairs, if there is no bird, will be paired again
8/ All on-report pairs will be shot as first bird established pair again.
9/ All completed cards must be handed in at the time specified each day
10/ Competitors must assemble in plenty of time to guarantee taking part.
11/ The wearing of hats is highly recommended
12/ High Lodge will not take responsibility for the loss or mislaying of personal items.
 Please take care of your own equipment and belongings.
13/ You can only enter in one classification on any competition, Class or Category.
