Woodland Management

One of the UK's major displays of woodland management and arboricultural management, conservation, equipment and services.

Woodland Exhibition

Part of Estate Management Row, the Woodland Management area features a wide range of machinery and equipment, suitable for estate and small woodland use. Much of the machinery is shown working and includes firewood processors, log splitters, kindling machines, chainsaws, brush cutters, hedge trimmers, utility vehicles, mobile sawmills, wood chippers, stump grinders, shredders, post drivers, heavy duty mowers and flails and mobile elevated work platforms. You can also get advice on the current range of woodland grants or any other tree and woodland related matter.

WOODLAND COMPETITIONS

For the first time ever at The CLA Game Fair there will be a chainsaw carving competition. Four of the UK’s top carvers, including the current UK champion Peter Bowsher, will be taking part in a three day open competition. Each carver will have a 2m x 1m piece of timber to carve and produce a sculpture of their choice to be completed by 2pm on the final day. The winner will be presented with his prize at 3pm. All the sculptures will then be available for sale.

WOODLAND CRAFT AREA

A comprehensive display of traditional, yet still practiced, woodland crafts. Including hazel hurdles, willow weaving, oaks swill basket making, Sussex trugs, charcoal burning, Windsor chair making, rush and cane seating, cleft fencing, besom brooms and pole and lathe turning amongst others. There will be opportunities for both adults and children to have a go at a number of these crafts to try for themselves these fascinating skills.

ADVICE

Experts will be available to give advice on woodland and tree related issues including woodlands for sale.

The Woodland Experience is organised by the APF International Forestry Machinery Exhibition Ltd, the organizers of the UK’s largest biennial woodland exhibition.
